The answer is “NO”.
Let me explain to you in details and facts.
First of all, let’s analyse the definition of each of the word.
The definition of Science according to the Oxford Dictionary:
“The intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.”
The definition of Religion according to the Oxford Dictionary:
“The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.”
You should believe in both Religion and Science. Religion and Science doesn’t contradict with each other, rather both are connected to each other. Let me give you an example in order to understand it better.
For example, let’s take Mr.Carl Benz and his first car. He was the maker or creator of the first car. That means it is his creation. If we want to understand the car (e.g. how it works, it’s mechanism, it’s materials etc), we need the science of the creation which is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical through observation and experiment. And if we want to know and understand the creator of the car, we need his biography, for here it is the religion (as for example).
In the conclusion, Science explains about the Creation (e.g. Universe, Human beings, Earth etc) and Religion explains about the Creator/God (e.g. Who is the creator, To know about him, Why he created us etc). So Science and Religion is not opposite from each other or contradict to each other but rather they both are connected to each other. Both Religion and Science are important for our life and to believe in God.
The Holy Quran said:
“All the praises and thanks be to Allah (God), the (only) Originator [or the (only) Creator] of the heavens and the earth.”-(Quran 35:1).
“Allah (God) is the Creator of all things, and He is the ‘Wakil’ (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.) over all things.-(Quran 39:62).
